Bulding Secure Livelihoods

Ensuring a family has adequate household economic and food security reduces vulnerability.

Food Security

RIC-NET focus is on improving agriculture productivity, sustainability and resilient livelihoods in order to graduate the most vulnerable families out of extreme poverty. We facilitate access and use of information and skills on better farming, pests and diseases control (Plant clinics), adaptation to climate change, marketing, and coordinate humanitarian response to emergencies and disaster.

Food assistance addresses the most dire and immediate forms of food insecurity, while enhancing livelihoods, improving health and education, and empowering communities to become self-reliant.

Education and Life Skills

We help children, youth, women including the most vulnerable, access quality education and attain functional levels of literacy, numeracy and essential life skills. When children (especially girls) and women can read, they can better advocate for their rights and help provide for their families. Our programme focuses on the needs of the community and children at all stages of development: early childhood, basic education, and adolescence and youth.

Healthy People

RIC-NET is committed to improving the health and nutrition of women and children in the areas in which it works, contributing to the global reduction of under-five and maternal mortality. ‘Health is built at home and repaired in hospitals’.

RIC-NET primary focus is on cost-effective preventive practices that address the primary causes of maternal and child mortality and illness, better sanitation, control of spread of Malaria and HIV Transmission, and access to immunization services and nutrition-related interventions for both mothers and children.
