The NBA, or National Basketball Association, is a professional basketball league in North America, comprising 30 teams. It is widely regarded as the premier men’s professional basketball league in the world. Founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, the NBA originally started as the Basketball Association of America (BAA) before merging with the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949. The league is known for its high level of competition, featuring many of the best basketball players globally. The NBA’s regular season runs from October to April, followed by the playoffs, culminating in the NBA Finals in June, where the two conference champions compete for the championship title. The NBA also plays a significant role in popularizing basketball globally and has a vast fan base, extensive media coverage, and numerous sponsorship deals.
