J2 League

The J2 League is the second tier of professional football in Japan. It operates under the Japan Football Association (JFA) and is part of the J. League system, which also includes the top-tier J1 League. Established in 1999, the J2 League consists of various clubs from across Japan, providing a competitive platform for teams that aspire to be promoted to the J1 League. The league typically features a mix of professional and semi-professional teams and serves as a developmental stage for players and clubs aiming to reach higher levels of competition. Teams compete in a season format, with points awarded for wins and draws, contributing to their rank within the league. The top teams at the end of the season may gain promotion to the J1 League, while some teams risk relegation to lower divisions.
